Empowering Rural Students: AI Practical Workshop Held at Marutrao Ghule Patil College

Ahilyanagar, March 2026 — In a significant move to bridge the digital divide, the Computer and Data Science Department of Loknete Marutrao Ghule Patil Arts, Commerce, and Science College recently organized a groundbreaking practical workshop on Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The initiative, spearheaded by Dr. Kshitij Ghule Patil, Trustee of the Ahilyanagar Janata Shikshan Prasarak Mandal and former Chairman of the Shevgaon Panchayat Samiti, aimed to provide world-class technological exposure to students from rural backgrounds and the neighboring MIDC industrial zones.

A Vision for the Future

The workshop was inaugurated by the newly elected Mayor of Ahilyanagar Municipal Corporation, Mrs. Jyoti Gade. During the ceremony, Mayor Gade lauded the efforts of the Ghule Patil family for making advanced technical knowledge accessible to the children of workers and farmers.

“AI in the future will not remain merely a technological convenience but will become a major tool for progress,” stated Dr. Kshitij Ghule Patil during his presiding address. “It is our mission to ensure that our students do not just become familiar with these technologies but use them effectively to lead on a global platform.”

Bridging the Gap between Rural and Corporate

The event saw participation from industry experts and consultants, including Vinod Kadam and Samuel Patole, who provided hands-on training to the students. The curriculum focused on the practical applications of AI and Data Science, moving beyond theoretical concepts to give students a “real-world” corporate experience.

The initiative received high praise from several dignitaries:

  • Chandrakant Bawankule (Revenue Minister): Commended Dr. Ghule Patil during a meeting at the Vidhan Bhavan in Mumbai, noting that providing such global technology to MIDC students is the “need of the hour” and will give a new direction to their careers.

  • Dhananjay Jadhav (Deputy Mayor): Highlighted that in the current digital era, such workshops are essential for making the younger generation capable and progressive.

Expansion Plans: National and State-Level Conferences

The success of the AI workshop has paved the way for more ambitious academic projects. Dr. Kshitij Ghule Patil announced that following this success, the institution plans to host National and State-level academic conferences in Ahilyanagar. These conferences will aim to bring together experts from across the country to further the cause of technical education in rural Maharashtra.

The program was attended by several prominent figures, including:

  • Mrs. Tejaswini Kshitij Ghule Patil
